You'll walk past this narrow frontage on Stokes Croft a dozen times before realising what you're missing. The dining room feels like someone's converted their front room – if they happened to have exceptional taste in wine and a chef who understands how to make vegetables sing. The menu changes with whatever's good that week, but expect things like cured meats they've done themselves, vegetables treated with the respect usually reserved for prime cuts, and pasta that makes you wonder why you bother cooking at home. The wine list is where they really show off – natural wines, small producers, bottles you've never heard of but will definitely remember. Service strikes that perfect balance between knowing their stuff and not making you feel like an idiot for asking questions.
