The Berkeley - JD Wetherspoon
A Spoons that's actually quite lovely, with proper Victorian bones and surprisingly decent food that goes beyond the usual chain fare.

You wouldn't expect much from a Wetherspoons on Queens Road, but The Berkeley surprises. Housed in a handsome Victorian building, it's got the kind of high ceilings and original features that make you forget you're in a chain pub. The usual Spoons crowd mingles with Clifton locals who've cottoned on to the fact that you can get a decent pint and fish and chips for under a tenner.
The curry club still draws the regulars on Thursdays, and the breakfast actually uses proper sausages. Yes, it's still a Wetherspoons with all that entails – sticky carpets, questionable music choices, and the occasional punter who's been there since opening. But when you're craving comfort food without the Clifton Village prices, it does the job perfectly well.
