You'll smell the charcoal and chilli before you even reach the door on Mill Road. The queue that forms most evenings tells you everything – this isn't your standard high street chicken shop. The spice levels here range from genuinely mild to 'why did I do this to myself', and the staff will gleefully watch you sweat through the hottest options. The chicken comes properly butterflied and grilled, not the sad dry stuff you get elsewhere. Chips are hand-cut and the Portuguese rolls actually taste like bread rather than cardboard. It's cramped, often chaotic, and you might wait longer than you'd like, but when that perfectly charred, properly spiced chicken hits your table, you'll understand why half of Cambridge seems addicted to this place.
