The Last Drop
A proper Grassmarket boozer with top-notch pub grub and one of Edinburgh's best beer gardens for people-watching the cobbles below.
🍴 pubtraditionallivelyhistoriccasualpub
You'll find this sprawling pub right in the thick of Grassmarket's action, where the cobbles meet centuries of drinking history. The beer garden here is genuinely brilliant – perched above the street with perfect views for watching tourists navigate the uneven stones while nursing a pint of Deuchars. Inside, it's all dark wood and worn leather, the kind of place that feels authentically old without trying too hard.
The food goes well beyond standard pub fare – their fish and chips are properly good, and they do a mean steak pie that'll sort you right out after a long day. Service can be patchy when it's rammed (which is often), but the atmosphere more than makes up for any delays. It's touristy, yes, but locals still pile in because it simply works.
