You'll hear Maggies before you see it - country music pumps out onto the Trongate at volumes that would make your nan complain. Inside, it's proper American dive bar territory: neon signs, cowboy hats hanging from the ceiling, and staff who genuinely seem to enjoy the madness. The drinks are reassuringly cheap and strong, which explains why it stays rammed until 3am every night of the week. This isn't subtle - think mechanical bull, line dancing lessons, and punters attempting terrible Southern accents after their third whiskey. But that's exactly the point. When everywhere else in the Merchant City is trying to be sophisticated, Maggies commits fully to being a ridiculous, sweaty good time. The crowds are a proper mix too - students, office workers, and tourists all united in temporary cowboy fantasies.
