You'll walk past this corner of Stonegate Road thinking it's just another local boozer, but step inside Number8 and follow the scent of charred meat and lime. The Mexican kitchen tucked away here knows what it's doing – none of that tex-mex nonsense you'll find elsewhere in the city. The menu changes regularly but expect properly seasoned carnitas, fish tacos that actually taste of the sea, and salsas with real punch. They're serious about their mezcal too, which pairs beautifully with whatever's coming off the plancha. The setting feels wonderfully incongruous – authentic Mexican cooking in a Meanwood pub – but somehow it just works.
