You know you're in proper Headingley territory when you walk into this stone-built corner pub that's been feeding generations of students and locals. The Sunday roasts here are genuinely excellent – proper Yorkshire puddings that don't collapse the moment you touch them, and beef that's actually pink in the middle. During term time, you'll be shoulder-to-shoulder with Leeds Uni students, but don't let that put you off. The beer garden comes into its own during football season, when half of Headingley descends to watch Leeds United matches on the big screens. Yes, it's a Greene King pub, but they've managed to keep that authentic local feel that makes you want to settle in for the afternoon. The pool table gets competitive after a few pints, and the kitchen stays open late enough to sort you out with decent pub grub when everywhere else has given up.
