You'll find yourself pulled between two worlds here – the laid-back upstairs bar with its sofas and civilised drinking atmosphere, and the sweaty basement where the real action happens. The programming is genuinely solid, mixing emerging local acts with touring bands that actually matter, plus club nights that pack the place out with people who know their music. That weird 7-10pm then 11pm-4am schedule makes perfect sense once you experience it – dinner crowd clears out, then the night people descend. The basement gets properly rammed on weekends, but in the best possible way. It's become the kind of place where you bump into half of Liverpool's creative scene, whether you're catching a gig or just ending up there at 2am because everywhere else has gone dead.
