You know exactly what you're getting into when you walk down those stairs – the neon signs and fake saloon doors don't lie. This is the Liverpool outpost of the American franchise that spawned a terrible film, and it delivers every bit of the promised mayhem. The bartenders dance on the bar, you'll get heckled if you order anything fancier than a beer, and yes, someone will absolutely attempt 'Sweet Caroline' at some point. It's brilliantly ridiculous and completely committed to the bit. The crowd skews young and ready to embrace the silliness, especially at weekends when the queue snakes up Bold Street. Sure, it's not sophisticated, but sometimes you want your night out served with a side of deliberate cheese and zero pretension.
