The industrial bones of the Tempest Building make for a properly atmospheric drinking den, all exposed brick and steel beams, but it never feels try-hard about it. The cocktail list does the classics well without any unnecessary theatrics, and the comfort food menu hits the spot when you've had one too many. The roof terrace is where things really come alive, especially when they've got live music on. It's one of those rare spots that works equally well for after-work drinks on a Wednesday or a proper Saturday night out. Just don't expect much action on Sundays – they're firmly closed, which honestly feels refreshingly old-school in a city centre that never switches off.
