Dusk Til Pawn

You'll walk past this Stevenson Square storefront a dozen times before realising the vintage trinkets in the window aren't actually for sale. Push through the pawn shop facade and you're transported into a dimly-lit speakeasy that takes its Prohibition cosplay seriously – think leather banquettes, exposed brick, and bartenders who know their way around a proper Old Fashioned. The cocktail menu reads like a love letter to classic American mixology, but the execution is distinctly Mancunian – no nonsense, well-priced, and served without the pretension you'd find elsewhere. Come Wednesday through Sunday when the Northern Quarter crowd spills in after work, nursing expertly crafted Negronis while debating whether the vintage cash register is original or just very convincing.
