Bridge Hotel
Proper old-school pub right under the castle where the beer's excellent and the Tyne Bridge views are even better.
historiccosyrelaxedrusticpub
You'll find this proper boozer tucked right beneath the castle walls on Castle Garth, and it's everything a good Newcastle pub should be. The location alone is worth the walk – you're literally drinking in the shadow of the Norman keep with cracking views across to the Tyne Bridge. Inside, it's all dark wood and worn leather, the kind of place that's been serving pints longer than most of us have been alive.
The beer selection is spot-on, with local ales taking centre stage alongside the usual suspects. It gets properly busy with a mix of castle visitors, office workers, and locals who've been coming here for decades. The food's honest pub grub that does the job, but really, you're here for the atmosphere and that view.
