Inside, exposed brick walls and mismatched furniture give it that lived-in feel that chain pubs spend fortunes trying to recreate. The live music programme is genuinely excellent – folk sessions, indie bands, and acoustic nights that actually showcase local talent rather than cover acts. Sunday roasts are a serious affair here; arrive early or you'll be disappointed. The beef comes properly pink, Yorkshire puddings tower over everything, and they don't scrimp on the gravy.
