You'll walk past this place a dozen times before you notice the understated entrance on St James's Street. That's entirely the point. Inside, Alcove feels like someone's very stylish living room – if that someone happened to be an exceptionally talented bartender with impeccable taste in mood lighting. The cocktail menu changes regularly, but expect serious attention to detail in both presentation and flavour. This isn't a place for rushed drinks or loud conversation. You come here when you want to actually taste what you're drinking, preferably while having the kind of conversation that requires proper eye contact. The staff know their stuff and aren't shy about making recommendations based on what you actually like, not what sounds impressive.
