You'll find this proper Victorian boozer right opposite the Council House on Edmund Street, and it's everything a city centre pub should be. The dark wood panelling and stained glass windows give it that authentic old Birmingham feel, but without the sticky floors and dodgy toilets that plague so many similar spots.
The food here is surprisingly decent – their Sunday roasts are some of the best you'll get in the city centre, with proper Yorkshire puddings and gravy that doesn't taste like it came from a packet. The beer selection covers all the usual suspects plus a few local ales, and the staff actually know what they're talking about. The beer garden out back is a proper sun trap when the weather's decent, making it perfect for after-work pints or weekend sessions.
