The building itself has character - high ceilings and decent natural light that makes it feel less like a corporate boozer and more like somewhere you might actually want to spend an afternoon. The breakfast here is reliably solid (and goes until noon, thank god), while the evening crowd is the usual mix of pre-theatre punters, students, and locals who know a good pint at a fair price when they see one. Sure, it's not going to win any awards for innovation, but when you want a proper breakfast with a pint at 9am or a decent curry for under a tenner, this place delivers without any pretension.
