M Shed

You're here for the museum really, but the café holds its own with windows looking out over the floating harbour and decent coffee that doesn't taste like it's been sitting around since the maritime era. The space feels appropriately industrial - all exposed beams and brick - fitting perfectly with M Shed's celebration of Bristol's working past. The food won't blow your mind but it's honest stuff: proper sandwiches, soup that's actually hot, and cakes that disappear quickly enough to suggest they're doing something right. What makes it work is the setting - you're literally sitting in Bristol's story, surrounded by cranes and docks, watching boats drift past while you fuel up between exhibits.
