Windmill Hill City Farm

You'll hear the chickens clucking before you smell the coffee brewing at this working city farm that's been feeding Bedminster families for decades. The café sits right in the middle of the action, with outdoor tables overlooking the pig enclosures and polytunnels where they grow their own veg. The menu changes with what's fresh from the garden, but expect hearty soups, doorstop sandwiches and proper cakes that actually taste homemade because they are. Kids run wild between the animal enclosures while parents nurse proper mugs of tea. It's chaotic in the best possible way, especially on weekends when half of South Bristol seems to descend with their wellies on.
