Head down to the Butts and you'll find Aardvark doing what pubs should do: no gimmicks, no craft beer snobbery, just honest drinking. It's the sort of place where regulars have their spots, the staff actually remember your name, and you won't feel out of place whether you're after a pint of lager or something from their solid real ale lineup. The atmosphere is properly convivial without being tryhard about it—conversations happen naturally, and there's usually a decent mix of ages. It's become something of a fixture in Coventry's pub scene precisely because it doesn't try too hard to be anything other than what it is.
