Jinseon Korean BBQ Restaurant

You'll smell the sizzling meat before you even spot the restaurant tucked into that little parade near the cathedral. Inside, it's all about the tabletop grills where you'll be flipping your own marinated beef whilst trying not to set your sleeves on fire. The banchan arrives in proper little dishes – their kimchi has just enough funk to make your eyes water in the best way. The bulgogi comes beautifully marinated and tender, though the real star is their kimchi jjigae, a proper stew that hits differently when it's properly cold outside. Staff are patient with Korean BBQ newcomers, and at around £15-20 a head, it's decent value for something this authentic. Gets properly busy at weekends, so book ahead unless you fancy waiting on Fairfax Street.
