Pepe's does one thing brilliantly: rotisserie chicken seasoned with peri-peri spice that's got actual heat and depth to it, none of that watered-down nonsense. The queues aren't there by accident. You'll find families grabbing a quick dinner, lads in after work, people who've driven across town because they know the difference between this and everywhere else. It's stripped-back in the best way—order at the counter, watch your food come together, eat it straight away when it's still steaming. Half or whole bird, sides that don't pretend to be anything fancy but do their job (chips are proper, coleslaw is crisp), and prices that won't hurt. There's something refreshing about a place that doesn't overthink it.
