You're walking down South End past the usual high street suspects when you spot Abshar, and honestly, it's one of those spots that makes Croydon's food scene feel properly grown up. The room has warmth without trying too hard—exposed brick, mood lighting, and enough tables crammed in to create proper buzz without feeling claustrophobic. The kitchen takes Persian food seriously: saffron-infused rice that's actually fluffy, chargrilled lamb and chicken that's got proper char and seasoning, and bread that arrives fresh enough to justify the whole trip alone. Service moves at a decent pace, staff actually know their menu, and it doesn't cost the earth either—you're looking at reasonable money for this quality.
