Dark Horse

You walk into Dark Horse and immediately get why it's got a 4.8 rating without trying too hard. This is the kind of pub that doesn't need a gimmick or a gastro menu to pull people in—it's just genuinely good at being a pub. The sort of place where regulars have their spot at the bar, the staff remember what you drink, and nobody's on their phone taking pictures of their drink. It's busy without being rammed, welcoming without being saccharine. Gloucester Road's got plenty of options, but Dark Horse cuts through the noise by being reliably excellent at the basics.
