You'll find this sprawling pub right on the main drag heading towards Kedleston, and it's the sort of place that does everything competently without trying to be something it's not. The interior strikes that balance between modern refurbishment and traditional pub warmth, with plenty of space for families during the day and a more relaxed drinking crowd as evening rolls in. The menu covers all the pub classics you'd expect - think proper Sunday roasts, fish and chips, and burgers that actually fill you up. Nothing groundbreaking, but executed well enough to keep the regulars happy. The beer selection is decent, with a mix of mainstream favourites and the odd local ale. Service is cheerful and efficient, even when they're busy at weekends. It's the kind of reliable neighbourhood pub that Derby does well - unpretentious, welcoming, and consistent.
