You're walking into one of Doncaster's most recognisable buildings right on the Market Place – the Red Lion's been here since the 18th century and it looks the part, all period features and solid Yorkshire character. It's a Wetherspoon, so you know what you're getting: decent-value pints, a proper menu that doesn't pretend to be something it's not, and enough tables to actually find a seat without booking three weeks ahead. The ground floor pub is where locals genuinely hang out, mixing business types popping in for a quick one with regulars who've probably been coming here since before you were born.
