Al Vesuvio
Proper wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas in Temple Bar that locals actually rate, despite the tourist postcode.

You'd be forgiven for walking past Al Vesuvio on Meeting House Square, assuming it's another tourist trap flogging mediocre Italian to day-trippers. You'd be wrong. This compact pizzeria serves some of the finest Neapolitan-style pizza in Dublin, with proper leopard-spotted crusts emerging from their wood-fired oven.
The menu keeps things refreshingly simple – classic margheritas, San Marzano-topped marinara, and a handful of creative combinations that don't venture into pineapple territory. Service is brisk but friendly, and while the space feels a bit cramped when it's buzzy, the authenticity more than makes up for any elbow-knocking. It's the rare Temple Bar spot where you'll find office workers from the Docklands queuing alongside tourists, which tells you everything you need to know.
