Paulies Pizza
Proper New York-style pizza that's caused quite the stir on the Grand Canal with sourdough bases and quality toppings done right.

You'll spot the queue before you see the sign – that's how you know you've found the right place on Grand Canal Street Upper. This compact spot has been turning out some of the city's most talked-about pizza since opening, and the hype is completely justified. The sourdough bases have that perfect chew, charred just enough from their wood-fired oven, while toppings range from classic margherita to more adventurous combinations that actually work.
The space itself is fairly no-nonsense – a few tables, counter seating, and an open kitchen where you can watch the magic happen. Service moves at a decent clip despite the crowds, and the staff know their stuff. At around €15-20 for a pizza that'll easily feed one very hungry person (or two reasonable humans), it's fair money for the quality you're getting.
