The Norseman
Viking-themed Temple Bar boozer that manages to feel proper local despite the tourist crowds, with solid pints and decent craic.

You'd expect another tourist trap on Essex Street, but The Norseman has somehow carved out its own corner of authenticity in the madness of Temple Bar. The Viking theme could easily tip into cheesy territory, but they've kept it restrained enough that you're not drinking surrounded by plastic helmets and fake shields.
The pint of Guinness is properly pulled, which is more than you can say for half the spots around here, and they've got a decent selection of whiskeys if you're feeling fancy. The crowd is a proper mix - yes, there are tourists with their cameras out, but you'll also find regulars propping up the bar most evenings. It's one of the few places in Temple Bar where you can actually have a conversation without shouting over terrible live music every night.
