The Oak

You're on Parliament Street, that stretch where the tourist traps thin out a bit, and The Oak has the good sense to feel like an actual neighbourhood watering hole rather than a theme park attraction. Step in and you'll find the kind of place where regulars prop up the bar like they own it, the timber's seen decades of elbows, and nobody's trying too hard. It's got that comfortable, worn-in quality—dark wood, proper bar setup, the works—but it never tips into being self-consciously "authentic." The crowd's genuinely mixed: you'll see office workers from the Docklands, Temple Bar residents, and yes, some tourists who've actually found somewhere worth their time. Food-wise, it's straightforward pub classics done properly, and the pints pull clean.
