The Quays manages to strike that delicate balance between serving the endless stream of visitors while keeping enough local character to prevent complete commercialisation. The interior feels properly pub-like without going overboard on the plastic Paddywhackery that plagues too many spots in this quarter. Pints are respectable, the atmosphere builds nicely as evening progresses, and the late hours make it useful when everywhere else has shut. Yes, you're still in Temple Bar with all that entails, but if you're stuck in the area after midnight, you could do far worse than ending up here.
