You walk into Incontri and immediately feel like you've stumbled into somewhere that takes itself seriously without being pretentious about it. Bruce Street's gained some decent spots over the years, but this is the one where the owner knows your name by visit three and the kitchen isn't cutting corners. The menu reads like someone's been to Italy and come back determined to do it right—handmade pastas, proper risottos, the kind of thing that makes you realise how much mediocre Italian you've eaten elsewhere. Prices won't bankrupt you either, which is refreshing when you're getting this level of care.
