Divino Enoteca Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar
Proper Italian wine bar with serious bottles and seasonal pasta that actually tastes like someone's nonna made it.

You'll find yourself on Merchant Street, that cobbled stretch near the City Chambers where the old Edinburgh actually feels old. Divino's the kind of place where the wine list does the talking—and there's genuinely excellent stuff here, not just the obvious names. The dining room's got that warm, unfussy elegance that the Italians do better than anyone: terracotta tones, proper glassware, staff who actually know their Piedmont from their Tuscany. The pasta changes seasonally, which means you're eating what's good right now, not what's on some laminated menu from 2015. Expect bold flavours and portions that make sense—this isn't Edinburgh's fanciest restaurant, but it's one where you actually want to linger over a second glass.
