You descend into The Caves' stone vaults and suddenly you're in one of Edinburgh's most atmospheric comedy rooms. It's all arched ceilings, candlelit corners, and that particular smell of old stone that makes you feel like you've stumbled onto something properly historic. The intimacy is mad — comedians can actually see your face when you're not laughing, which keeps everyone honest. During Festival season it's rammed with punters and performers testing new material; off-season it hosts regular nights that actually pull decent crowds. Fair warning: it's proper dungeon-like, so dress warm.
