Head out towards Countess Wear and you'll find this place takes itself seriously in the kitchen, with the sort of technical skill and seasonal focus that'd impress even if it wasn't housed in a country club. The dining room looks out over manicured fairways, which sounds fancy but never feels stuffy. You're getting proper restaurant-quality food at prices that won't require a second mortgage, which is increasingly rare in Exeter.
