You're walking down High Street past the usual chain suspects when you spot Ikoyi. Step inside and you've left Gillingham briefly—the air's thick with smoke from the grill, there's a proper buzz, and everyone around you is ordering suya like they know exactly what they're doing. The meat comes out blackened at the edges, coated in that fiery peanut spice mix that catches the back of your throat in the best way. It's not fancy, it's not trying to be. Just straightforward West African street food done right, which frankly we don't get enough of round here.
