You're staying right in the thick of it on George Square, and honestly, you could do a lot worse than eating downstairs. The restaurant here serves up proper British comfort food that hits the spot after a long day tramping around the city centre. Nothing fancy, mind you, but when you want a decent steak pie or fish and chips without venturing out into the Glasgow drizzle, this does the job nicely. The dining room has that inoffensive chain hotel vibe - clean, bright, and utterly predictable - but the portions are generous and the service is consistently sound. It's particularly handy if you're knackered from shopping on Buchanan Street or need somewhere family-friendly that won't break the bank.
