Bettys Café Tea Rooms
Proper Yorkshire institution serving excellent tea and cakes in a grand Victorian setting since 1919.

Walk through the doors on Parliament Street and you're stepping into proper old Harrogate—all Art Deco tiles, elegant waitresses in black and white, and the kind of unhurried pace that makes you want to linger for hours. Bettys has been doing this since 1919, and they haven't mucked about trying to be trendy about it. You come here for loose-leaf teas (they know what they're doing), house-made cakes that justify the queue, and the kind of service that remembers you're not in a rush. The upstairs tearoom has that hushed, refined atmosphere; downstairs is busier but no less charming. It's the sort of place where you actually notice the details—the china, the light, the way they've polished everything to within an inch of its life.
