The Medina Railway Tavern

You walk into the Medina Railway Tavern expecting exactly what you get: wood panelling, decent pints, and absolutely nobody performing for Instagram. It's the sort of place where regulars prop up the bar and the landlord knows what you drink before you order. Newport's not known for nightlife theatre, so this pub does something better—it just exists as a proper watering hole where you can nurse a drink without being sold an experience. The real ale selection is worth the trip alone if you're into that sort of thing, and the 4.4-star rating speaks to consistency rather than flash.
