Proper North Indian cooking on Otley Road that takes itself seriously without the stuffiness. Packed most nights for good reason.

Walk into Bukhara on a Friday and you'll understand why Headingley locals queue out the door. The dining room hums with the sound of families, dates, and groups of mates who clearly know their way around a menu. It's warm without being fussy—the kind of place where you're made to feel instantly welcome whether you're in your best or your gym kit. The kitchen does proper tandoori work: clay-baked, charred, tasting like it actually matters. Naan comes puffy and blistered. Curries aren't dumbed down for timid palates, but they're balanced enough that you can actually taste what's in them. Service moves at the right pace—attentive but not hovering. It's the sort of neighbourhood restaurant that makes you realise how lucky you are to live near it.
