Holiday Inn Leicester by IHG

You wouldn't think to pop into a Holiday Inn for a drink, but this St Nicholas Circle spot actually does a decent job of it. The bar feels less corporate hotel lounge and more like a proper local - helped by the fact that plenty of Leicester folk actually do use it as their regular, especially after work on weekdays. The cocktail list won't blow your mind but it's competently made, and they pour a proper pint alongside familiar pub classics that hit the spot when you need them to. It's particularly handy if you're already in the area around the Haymarket or catching something at De Montfort Hall - somewhere reliable that won't charge you tourist prices just because it's in a hotel.
