Alma Kings Cross

Walk into Alma on York Way and you'll clock the sort of place that doesn't need to try too hard. The espresso is consistently excellent—they know what they're doing with their beans—and the pastries are the kind you actually want to linger over with your flat white. It's the neighbourhood café King's Cross desperately needed: proper coffee culture without the pretension that plagues so much of London right now. The space has that unpretentious, lived-in feel where locals actually sit down to work or chat rather than Instagram their oat milk cappuccino.
