You're walking past the brutalist towers of the Barbican and suddenly you've stumbled into a Melbourne laneway transplanted to London Wall Place. Barbie Green does that thing Australian cafés do so well—they make you feel like you've discovered something before everyone else cottoned on. The coffee's excellent, the sort that arrives with actual knowledge behind it, and the brunch menu reads like what you'd genuinely want to eat at 11am on a Saturday, not some Instagram performance. It's become the sort of place locals near the Barbican actually want to go to, which says everything.
