Sourdough obsessives and pastry lovers queue for Justin Gellatly's brilliant bakery near Knightsbridge, where every loaf tells a story.

You'll find yourself on Pavilion Road in Knightsbridge, surrounded by expensive handbags and hedge fund offices, which makes this bakery feel like a proper rebellion. Inside, it's warm and slightly chaotic—the kind of place where the counter staff actually know their stuff and won't sell you day-old bread. The sourdough is genuinely excellent; properly fermented, beautifully scored, with that satisfying crust that cracks when you cut into it. Pastries rotate seasonally and they're made with proper technique, not shortcuts. It's not cheap—expect to pay £4–£6 for a loaf, around £3.50 for a croissant—but you taste why.
