Dishoom Kensington

You'll walk past the bronze plaques and period features of Derry Street and suddenly feel very far from Kensington's usual hedge-fund energy. Inside, Dishoom's got that Bombay café aesthetic down to a fine art—exposed brick, vintage mirrors, a bar that actually buzzes. The menu reads like someone's genuinely good at cooking rather than performing it: their breakfast naan comes with spiced scrambled eggs, the lamb biryani is the sort of thing you'll think about on the Tube home, and the black daal tastes like someone's been tending it all morning. Prices hover around £15-25 per head before drinks, which feels fair for Kensington.
