Nelson Road in Greenwich has become a bit of a destination for decent food, and GAIL's sits right in the middle of it all, doing what it does best: turning out exceptional bread and pastries. You'll walk in to the smell of fresh sourdough and the sight of laminated croissants that actually have distinct, buttery layers—not the sad, compressed things you get elsewhere. The space itself is bright and unpretentious, the sort of neighbourhood bakery where you genuinely want to linger over coffee and a pain au chocolat. It gets properly busy, especially weekends, but that's because locals know what's good.
