Gourmet Pizza Co

Proper Neapolitan pizza on the South Bank that actually gets the fundamentals right—wood-fired oven, quality ingredients, no faffing about.

You're on Upper Ground, that stretch of the South Bank where the Thames runs alongside and the Barbican looms in the distance. Walk in here and you're immediately hit with the smell of a proper wood-fired oven doing its thing. The room's got that unpretentious London thing going on—brick, industrial edges, but warm enough that you want to linger. Order a Margherita and you'll see what they're about: San Marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, basil that hasn't been murdered. The crust has char and leopard spots, the kind of pizza that makes you realise most London pizzerias have been getting it wrong. Decent wine list too, if you're that way inclined.
