You're walking into Hackney Church Brew Co. and the smell hits you first: wood smoke and roasting chicken. Hendl's set up shop here with a no-nonsense approach to what should be simple but rarely is done this well. Order a bird (they do halves and wholes), pick your sides—the potatoes are genuinely excellent—and watch it disappear faster than you'd expect. It's the sort of place where you don't overthink it; you just eat properly cooked food in a buzzy brewery setting with a decent beer in hand.
