You're walking into the Standard's ground-floor dining room on Argyle Street and it feels properly grown-up—there's a confidence to the way they do things here that you don't find everywhere in King's Cross. The menu reads like a love letter to Spanish food that knows when to stop showing off: think jamón ibérico, fresh seafood cooked simply, maybe some croquetas that taste like someone actually cares. The wine list alone is worth a visit if you're into that sort of thing. It's the kind of place where you can eat seriously well without anyone being precious about it.
