Lahore Kebab House

No-frills Pakistani grill where the seekh kebabs are worth the queue and the naan arrives properly charred.

You'll find yourself on Umberston Street in Whitechapel at what is essentially a proper working man's kebab house — all strip lighting, plastic chairs and the smell of charcoal that clings to your clothes in the best way. The menu's refreshingly short because they know what they do well: seekh kebabs that arrive sizzling on a cast iron plate, haleem that's been slow-cooked until it's almost meditative, and naan that's blistered from a proper tandoor. It gets rammed most nights with a mix of locals, late-night revellers and people who've specifically travelled across London because they know the quality here is uncompromising. The prices are genuinely reasonable — you're eating seriously good food for under a tenner.
