Persepolis

Proper Persian vegetarian cooking in Peckham that'll make you forget meat exists. Bold flavours, friendly chaos, genuinely good value.

You're walking down Peckham High Street and stumble into something properly different—stripped-back room, bare tables, the kind of place that doesn't need faffing about. The menu's built entirely around vegetables, pulses and Persian spices, which sounds like it could be worthy and dull. It absolutely isn't. Dishes sing with pomegranate molasses, turmeric and cumin. Order the kashk-e bademjan (aubergine dip) and watch it disappear. The khorovatz koobideh (grilled vegetable skewers) are genuinely brilliant. Prices hover around £8-12 for mains, so you're eating properly for not much money.
